What you didn't know about Thailand?
Thailand, which has about the same land area as Spain and France, consists of two broad geographic areas; the largest part in the north and a smallest peninsular extension in the south.
The northern mountains, the southeastern continuation of the uplift process that formed the Himalayas, extend southward along the Thai-Myanmar border and reach as far south as northern Malaysia.
The northeast is coterminous with the Khorat Plateau, a vast tableland bounded by the Mekong River on the north and east. It was formed by uplifting along two perpendicularly arranged crustal faults - one sedimentary rocks were tilted rather than uniformly uplifted.
